Pearls

If the type and origin of a pearl, or a strand of pearls, are known, GSL will provide a Gemstone Authentication Report outlining the features and quality of the pearl/s.

If a pearl, or a strand of pearls, is presented and the type is unknown, GSL can use X-ray to determine the type of pearl. GSL Pearl X-rays are accompanied by Reports which outline the findings of the X-ray.

X-ray analysis allows the Gemmologist to observe a pearl's internal structure. X-rays are therefore used to determine whether a pearl is Natural or Cultured. Chemistry is used to determine if a pearl is Freshwater or Saltwater. X-rays can also be used to identify imitation pearls.
